North Boulder & Wonderland Lake

Artsy NoBo energy, quiet streets, and recreation at the lake.

Welcome

North Boulder (NoBo) and Wonderland Lake mix quieter residential streets with a creative commercial strip. Mid-century tract homes came first; newer single-family homes, townhomes, and condos have filled in. Wonderland Lake grew in the 1970s around the idea of living next to open space, trails around the lake and into the foothills. You are about two miles from Pearl Street, with ethnic restaurants, breweries, and cafés closer to home.

What to Love

  • Quieter residential pockets
  • NoBo arts scene
  • Strong local restaurant row
  • Lake and foothills recreation

People & Lifestyle

NoBo is one of Boulder's arts hubs, galleries, studios, and First Friday Art Walks along Broadway. Wonderland Lake is where many residents walk, run, or take kids after school. If you want outdoor access without giving up a neighborhood caf culture, this area is often on the short list.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Standouts people mention: Dagabi Cucina, Proto's Pizzeria, The North End at 4580, Bacco, La Choza, and Wapos. Lucky's Market (and the bakehouse/creamery next door) is a NoBo landmark for groceries and treats.

Things to Do

Wonderland Lake Park: fishing, wildlife, a ~1.5-mile loop around the lake, trailheads into the foothills, plus hang-gliding/paragliding launch sites nearby. Foothills Community Park (~65.2 acres) adds trails, picnic shelters, dog park, and sports fields. Monthly First Friday Art Walks open 40+ studios and creative businesses along the NoBo Art District.
